EV Charging plug level 1

Level 1

Best suited for battery top-ups. Uses a typical 120V household wall outlet. Reliably provides up to 1.2 kW of charging power.

Charging from near-empty to full battery capacity can take multiple days - depending on model and condition of the vehicle and its battery system.

EV Charging plug level 2

Level 2

Best suited for everyday charging at home, and overnight charging. Reliably available at most public charging stations in North America. Uses a 240V outlet - similar to what is used by a clothes dryer.

Charging from near-empty to full battery capacity can take a few hours - depending on model and condition of the vehicle and its battery system.

EV Charging plug level 3

Level 3

Also known as DC fast charging. Best suited for emergency replenishment, or for performance driving on a circuit. Available at select public charging stations in North America. Voltage output typically starts from 400V.

Charging from near-empty to full battery capacity can take less than one-hour - depending on model and condition of the vehicle and its battery system.

Installing a Home Charger

Step 1

Prepare for your new e-tron model by arranging for a licensed electrician to assess your home's suitability for a home charger - Level 2 or Level 3.

Step 2
